Annual Fundraiser for Sanctuary House by C. Rama

Hello friends,

Every year, I do a fundraiser for Sanctuary House to honor the memory of my sister, Regina whose life was cut short due to complications from mental illness. Last year, with YOUR generous support, we raised over $50,000 for Sanctuary House's endowment. Endowments are essential to sustain an organization. As the endowment grows, the interest can be used to fund an organization, and ensure it remains funded for the generations that follow. It is a way to leave a legacy, and each of you who have donated, are an essential part of preserving this wonderful organization so that generations to come can be served. Last year I ran 4 miles for each donation I received. I still have about 10 people on my list I “owe” 4 miles (A knee injury has prevented me from doing this again this year). This year, I am going to write a book. It will be a book that will tell Regina’s story, and my own, and those of other’s who have suffered from the scourge of mental illness, as well as providing some historical background of how miserably we have failed our most vulnerable. Each person who donates to my fundraiser will have 1 page of the book dedicated to them. You will help me write a story, AND the story I tell will be a legacy for all those who have been touched by mental illness, all those who fight to eradicate it and all those who suffer, a measure of hope that one day, we will find a cure. Until such time comes, may each of us be a beacon of light and pave the way for great things to happen. As the book unfolds, I will upload each page unedited and unrefined. When the book is done, I will polish it up, and publish it. Each of you will receive a signed copy of my book, to serve as a reminder of the great things you have done for Sanctuary House and those who are served by this wonderful organization.
