I went in for a standard procedure, a breast reduction on December 22nd, 2020. I was unaware I had any allergies to medications. The procedure had to stop after an incision was made because I went into anaphylactic shock, then cardiac arrest and had to receive CPR. I was rushed to the ER then placed in the ICU for over 24 hours. I woke up on ventilator confused, and scared choking on a ventilator. I thought I was in post op, only to find out I wasn’t able to breathe on my own for over 24 hours... and it was the next day after surgery. My heart rate was high and I had to be given pain and anxiety medication. I had a hard time walking or getting up on my own. My chest was sore from receiving CPR for two minutes. The ICU nurse told me I flatlined for two minutes... on the 23rd at 3 am, my heart rate was controlled and I was transferred to the floor. I still couldn’t get up on my own and they didn’t feel comfortable sending me home. Come the 24th, I really wanted to go home for Christmas so I pushed myself to walk two laps around the unit. I had to complete respiratory therapy as well to be able to go home. They monitored me until the 25th when I was able to go home Christmas Day. This entire experience was very traumatic and no ones fault, just a freak accident. This has delayed me from being able to work, my body is traumatized and I am full of anxiety. When this happened I did not have health insurance unfortunately which is why I am here, and have created a gofundme. If you have any questions please feel free to message me. Any help at this time would be greatly appreciated, I know this is a hard time for everyone... so anything helps. $5 (apparently that’s the minimum you can do on here), sharing this post, doing both... anything... thank you so much in advance. My family greatly appreciates your love and support.
