CANCER
That's what was found when my sister AnnMarie went in on 8/3/20 for what should have been a straight forward hysterectomy. The cancer, stromal sarcoma is rare, aggressive and already at a stage 4.
She's been in the hospital for 29 days now and because of COVID the hospital only allows one visitor per day. On day 26 the hospital did make a special exception, allowing her children Matthew (6) and Nathan (11) to see her. Imagine being a parent and not being able to see your kids for 26 days!
The tumor has not responded to the initial round of chemo because this is a rare and aggressive form of cancer, the tumor has grown almost 5cm in the last two weeks.
We'll be meeting with the Mayo Clinic on 9/10 (the soonest they could meet). We are also waiting to hear back from the Cancer Centers of America to get their opinion. During this time, AnnMarie is still at Abbott and we're trying to get her moved closer to home and to a place that is more flexible with their visiting policies.
When you're fighting a cancer demon you need to see your kids and more than one family member a day. Toby has great insurance, yet the price for a facility that provides round the clock care is still astronomical.
Our family needs your financial help because right now AnnMarie is fighting a battle with a cancer that wants to win and she needs us by her side. Any support you could provide, will help us get her to a place that will allow us to be there for her during this fight.
Thank you for allowing me to share our story.
