Annika and Josh’s Recovery

Thank you for your love for Josh and Annika!
Please consider praying for newlywed Josh and Annika Burley (Cook) and helping as you can. The funds go toward the unexpected and unknown costs they will be facing in their recovery.
An urgent need also!! A reliable car for their transportation! There have no prospective car options currently. They only had liability insurance and not comprehensive insurance.
Joshua Burley and his new bride Annika Cook were in a very serious car accident this week. (Details from Josh’s mom) In a remote location (in complete darkness) they slid off black ice, rolled 3 times down an embankment through thick forested trees! By a gift from God, a local passerby late at night came upon the accident just minutes after it happened, he saw their headlights from the road and called 911! It was 27⁰ degrees, way too cold and definitely would've played into severe shock, possibly hypothermia...
Emergency services were on scene within minutes, Praise the Lord! Even amongst the rolling and blown out windows, both managed to remain in their seats and the car landed upright! The paramedics and EMTs who in the darkness, freezing cold, and densely treed area worked together to get them out and transport them to a local hospital! Jaws of Life were used, everything smashed and crunched up. If there had been any delay in emergency services, hypothermia would have set in due to their injuries and not being able to get out of the car.
Annika needed to go to OHSU’s trauma unit; she suffered internal injuries and internal bleeding. Annika needed surgery for her fractured pelvis, and they were able to get her in that same day, another miracle! Her internal bleeding has stopped, and she is now in recovery. Joshua with many lacerations and semi-frostbit hands, has a fractured sternum/ribs.
It's a long road to recovery. Annika will need several months of therapy to walk again, and Josh needs to rest as much as possible and let his bones heal. BUT....
They are here! They are still with us!!
God is good, God is Love. We are very thankful!
Please continue to pray for them as they recover.
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39
