On Friday, March 9, we said goodbye for now to Larry Funk & have another angel watching over us. His granddaughter, Emilee Simicich, expressed his passing beautifully...
"The struggles of this world can not compare to the joy of Heaven. It’s been a long road of pain and suffering and today, sadly, cancer won the battle. My grandpa was by far the best man I have ever met and I would not know Jesus if it were not for the guidance he gave me. I owe everything I am to this man and my life will not be the same without him. I know now that he is freed from the chains that held him here, and that he has finally reached God’s kingdom and for that I am forever grateful. I love you Pops."
We are overwhelmed & so grateful for the outpouring of love, friendships & support during a difficult time. Larry leaves behind his beloved beloved wife of 45 years, Annie Funk, daughters (Marti + Carol), grandchildren (Enzo + Emilee), sisters (Dee, Val + Merrilyn) + many other friends + extended family.
Many of you have asked what you can do to help. Larry's last wishes were to make sure that Annie, who is completely blind, was taken care of. Larry was worried about Annie - what was she going to do without him? Not just her companion, but in more practical ways -- her eyes to read the mail + identify colors of clothing, do grocery runs (lots of grocery runs), get around & so much more.
Well, if you know Annie -- you know that she's resilient, independent, and intends to continue as such....but it won't be the same without Larry. Have you ever tried to do all your daily activities blindfolded? This is Annie's new reality as she embraces life without Larry.
We have set-up this GoFundMe account to help Annie purchase some items that will allow her to maintain her independence and make day to day tasks a little easier. After visiting the Braille Institute, she's identified a number of items that will help her including:
- SARA CE (a scanning & reading appliance)
- Other adaptive & talking devices
- Classes & programs for the blind
- OC Access Service
Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions.
On behalf of our dad & mom,
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
