Anniecat needs surgery again

Hi, I’m haych. I have three cats: Lilo, Stitch, and Annie. Lilo and Stitch live with me and Annie lives with my parents. I got Annie in 2011 when it still felt like my life would turn out okay, whereas Lilo and Stitch were acquired mid-to-late, extended quarter life crisis.

Annie was 100% feral but was very kind in her fear. She didn’t lash out when she was afraid (still doesn’t) but she has been known to be an anxious pee-er. While she’s still a little anxious and flighty, she really found her footing as a much adored, much cherished indoor princess. I tried to add photos here but I hit the max. I’ll do an Anniecat photo dump on my Instagram (@haychfever) if you’re interested. My favourite thing about Annie’s growth from fearful and feral is that she has developed a personal space issue: if you have space, she’ll be in it. If you’re a cat on someone’s lap, she’ll sit on you any which way to get some love (Stitch loved this… lmao). Annie has been my companion through domestic violence, SA, an eating disorder, a life changing injury, and however many mental health crises.

In 2024, Annie was diagnosed with a squamous cell carcinoma, a cancer. Her vet was able to flawlessly remove the whole thing with clean margins, and she recovered really well. This week, I was informed that Annie likely has another SCC and we have three options: provide topical care in case it’s just a cyst; jump right in and do the surgery to remove the affected tissue; do diagnostics (cytology/X-ray/etc.) and then do the surgery. Annie also needs a dental done. Annie’s bloodwork is all within normal range and at this time, her little old lady kidneys and liver are not a concern RE: anesthesia. She was, ironically, unable to provide a urine sample at the vet despite being a nervous piddler, but we will do a UA via needle if she still won’t cooperate lol.

•Topical care is obviously the most affordable option but is also obviously less than ideal with her history of cancer.
•Jumping into surgery without sending samples to path is estimated to be around $1500.
•Diagnostics + surgery is estimated to be around $2500-$3000.
• Dental added on to either surgery is estimated to be around $600.

I would like to jump right into surgery and waste no time. If the universe allows, I would like to do the dental at the same time, both for cost and to not run the risk of putting her under a second time.

However, I am currently on a fixed income. I have been on private disability for nearly two years now, navigating and trying to deal with severe and treatment-resistant anxiety, depression and SI, and PTSD.

Should you decide you’re able/willing to help my old lady Little Bear, you will have my eternal gratefulness. I’ve had a lot of loss over the last 18 months and my little heart needs a rest.

If we raise more than needed for Annie’s surgery, all excess funds will be donated to Meika’s Safehouse - an Alberta bird rescue (I also have two little birdies).

Thank you. With my whole heart.
