Annie Jane Winter's Medical Support Fund
On July 2nd, 2021 at 23:19 little Annie Jane Winters came into the world 12 days before her mom's scheduled C-Section. She came in at a tiny (for a Winter's baby) but healthy 7lbs, 3oz.
Shortly after she was born, it was found that she had pulmonary hypertension and low oxygen levels. She was given positive pressure oxygen to help support her overwhelmed little lungs and placed in the NICU at St John's Hospital. Maggie would have to wait approximately 8 hours to hold her little baby girl, but finally that precious moment happened. Within 12 hours, AJ would be taken off of the oxygen support and was able to maintain her oxygen levels without it.
However, within a couple of hours, little AJ's heart would become just a little too excitable. AJ began to have what is called supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) which is just a fancy way to say her heart was beating too quickly and out of control, but still in an organized rhythm. Although the most common cardiac abnormality for newborns, it is still a concerning issue and earned little AJ a trip in the ambulance to Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital. (With her Aunts and Uncles being who they are she just couldn't stay out of an ambulance, could she?).
Her care is being continued at Minnesota Masonic Hospital and she is a strong, determined little girl who is already loving giving her dad a heart attack. (She's his youngest girl, what does Mike expect?). Maggie followed in an ambulance a few hours after AJ's arrival and now the family can be in the same hospital.
The staff at both hospital and in the ambulance rides have been incredible. That being said, all this care comes at a price. Mike and Maggie are two of the most selfless people in the entire world who would never ask for help and would rather just give themselves to everyone around them. Now it is our turn to help them out. Let's make sure with all the other stressors going on with a NICU baby that Mike and Maggie don't have to even think for a moment on the financial side of things!
*Note: Whatever they don't use for immediate medical expenses will be used for future medical expenses or college fund*
