Anne-Marie's Fight Against Brain Cancer
Donation protected
Hey everyone, my name’s Sam; for those that don’t know I'm Anne-Marie Forgan’s (Carmody’s) son.
Mum was taken to hospital on October 27th after suffering a seizure at work, CT’s and MRIs showed a bleed on the brain accompanied by a large lesion in her frontal lobe. She had a Craniotomy (Brain surgery) to debulk the tumor and obtain a biopsy on November 16th; almost a week later she was finally discharged home some 27 days after her initial admission into hospital.
Biopsy results later returned with the sad news of a Terminal Stage 4 Glioblastoma; while there is no cure for this type of cancer, the surgeons have given 2 to 24 months and advised us the next step is Chemo/Radiotherapy to delay any tumor growth and extend her time. This cancer is one of the most aggressive out there but we are fighting it every step of the way, as we did with her late brother Stephen ten years ago who Anne-Marie assisted in caring for.
Her number of medical appointments is increasing, and so are her bills for prescriptions, travel, parking and medical supplies. We’ve set up this page as many people ask how they can help but are unsure what to do to help. The funds raised from this page will go towards prescriptions, petrol, parking for medical appointments and any other medical costs we incur. If this page raises more money than needed to cover these fees, then any extra will ensure mum can do something special for her.
We ask people to please use this instead of chocolates and flowers as mum can’t eat any sweets and due to the infection risk/hay fever associated with flowers inside the house.
Mum and our family greatly appreciate any help you can provide,
Have a great Christmas & New Year, and hug your loved ones tight.
xx
