Annelise & Lee Huggins Housing and Medical Relief

My name is Lee Huggins and my wife Annelise and I are needing your help. She was born with a rare genetic condition known as Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a connective tissue disorder that can affects every cell in the body. In hers it manifests in a myriad of symptoms, some of the worst being that all of her joints dislocate at the slightest touch. Her body also lacks the ability to self-regulate, something we take for granted. She suffers both from hypothermia and hyperthermia unless she has the ability to closely control her environment.

In addition to these tragic symptoms she was also born with epilepsy and suffers from seizures daily; some small, sometimes a full Grand Mal. Fortunately she's on a lot of medication that we have to pay for out of pocket that mostly keeps them at bay. Medicaid has decided that these life-sustaining medications are not essential to her health and well being.

As you may have deduced, having a body that is as fragile as wet tissue paper with violent seizures is at best a painful combination and at worst life ending. As s consequence she lives with a level of pain one would not wish upon their worst enemy.

In order to survive, Annelise needs a caretaker to assist in the simplest of tasks. Fortunately, by the grace of God, that role has been fulfilled by me. It is a consuming and taxing role, but one I gladly embrace as her husband. Unfortunately, no one as of yet has had the physical stamina, mental and emotional fortitude, medical training, and intimate knowledge of Annelise's unique and peculiar physiology and needs to fulfill this role other than myself. We have tried many different times to find a relief caretaker but the result has always been injury and more pain for Annelise and in turn an even heavier work load on myself. That being said, we are always on the lookout for any type of assistance.

Which brings us to our current need. Our landlord is going thru a messy divorce and thru no fault of hers must sell the house we are renting. She has been most compassionate and gracious and has let us stay here despite not being able to pay rent due to the economic impact Covid has had on our dog care business A&L Dog Services ( www.facebook.com/aldogservices ). Our landlord is being forced to sell by both her bank and her ex-husband to avoid serious legal trouble which could jeopardize her ability to care for her three children.

We are asking for help in the form of monetary gifts to pay for rent and deposit for the coming year. Due to Covid, our income and rental history this past year have prevented us from qualifying for all rental properties that we have applied for thus far. Short of finding a co-signer we will need to pay a substantial amount for a deposit, possibly up to the full year's rent up front. There are also costs involved in moving, including transporting Annelise and her hospital beds and medical equipment which requires specialized, professional, non-typical movers.
