Dear Anne,
Now that we all know that you have the “C” word (Breast cancer)... I don’t know much but I know that I love you ~ simple words that move through a relationship like ours.... I’m better because I know you ~ I laughed louder because I know you ~ you are you and it’s perfect !!
Given that Anne is the Artistic Director @ The Assembly Theatre and self-employed EI is going to be minimal if any!!
I asked Anne to send me her post so I could share part of it here:
Surgery day is upon us!
For those of you who are as yet unaware, please be advised: I have breast cancer. 6 weeks have passed since diagnosis and I have yet to find the right way to tell people. Or what exactly to tell them. Or if they’d even wish to be told. And even considering all that, what do I want to say?
I’ll start with this:
During the run of my last show, Jarrett found a lump in my left breast (way to go, baby! What a life saver). After what seems like a million doctor’s appointments with various specialists, and a multitude of blood tests and DNA tests and biopsies and ultrasounds and mammograms and even a gd MRI, I was diagnosed with ducto invasive breast cancer and am having a mastectomy this Tuesday (followed by biopsies of lymph nodes and reconstructive surgery).
As far as facts go, that’s all I have for now. We’ll know more when the pathology from the tissue and nodes removed come back.
Anne will need to rest over the next couple weeks/months as she moves through treatment - Let’s cover some bills and expenses for her!!
