Hi everyone!
My name is Anna and I am an actor (now THOSE are words I never expected to be saying). Wanting to become an actor wasn’t a BANG moment for me. It was a series of experiences that led me to say, “Yep. This is it. This is what I need to be doing.” I began by teaching creative drama to preschoolers and performing interactive children’s shows. I watched these children change their voices and bodies into animals, plants, aliens, each of them making bold, uninhibited choices, and I realized that’s what I want: to play, to imagine, to explore. I have stood on a small blackbox stage, only feet from an audience, asking people to journey with me through a crumbling marriage. I have been hurled through the air at the National Theatre with no rehearsal time and thirty minutes’ notice to perform, leaving me terrified and exhilarated, and it has left me wanting more. I want to train, to study, to learn how to make fearless choices, to open myself up entirely to this crazy world, and to learn how to be a working actor. So, this fall I am taking a giant leap and heading for NYC to attend the Stella Adler Studio of Acting.
This is where you come in. StellaAdler is an intensive three-year, full-time conservatory program, and because it is strictly an acting school and not an accredited university, both student loans and financial aid are unavailable. School alone costs $15,500 per year, not including books, supplies, and New York’s cost of living (average rent plus transportation equals about $13,500 per year), so I am asking for your help. Please help me make this dream a reality. Help me throw one big stepping stone onto my path.
