Anna’s funding for the end of the road

My beautiful wife Anna, 27, has been living for the last 10 years with Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare form of cancer that affects mainly children and young adults.
It’s the continual stream of treatments and surgery over these years which has really put Anna to the test. Being put through numerous rounds of chemo including life-changing high dose chemo and endless radiotherapy blasts has meant Anna’s had to adapt to big changes that are difficult to expect anyone to face. Anna has taken on these challenges and battled through with real admiration and cool, coming through the other side still smiling.
She’s had a chance to try various trials such as immunotherapy and alternative therapies and has adopted lifestyle changes such as healthy living and eating to help her on her journey with cancer. This in turn put Anna on a path for having a real care for the environment and all those around her, she is quite the eco warrior. Anna even managed to defy the surgeons predictions of not being able to snowboard again in 2017, just 10 months after she had her right Pelvis removed. Watching Anna conquer the mountain knowing what she’s had done is incredible. (See vid)
2 years ago when Anna was told her condition was without cure, we decided to marry, move house and build our joinery business to help support us with as normal a life as possible. We have been able to achieve some amazing and positive experiences between the harder times, and looking back, it’s the good times that we remember the most because we have tried to make it all good, whatever challenges we’ve faced.
Over Christmas, Anna’s health has taken a real turn for the worse leaving us feeling extremely anxious and unprepared for what is proving to be a really difficult time and we have been forced to accept that our time together is limited. We have had great support from family and friends through the years but have tried to live as independently as possible, together taking on and successfully completing an ongoing stream of cabinetry and furniture projects.
Through lots of hard work we have tried to run a business that could financially support us when we really needed it. Anna had to take a back seat last year and step away from working full-time, looking after our 2 dogs and her own health became her priority, whilst I took on the task of getting the business where it needed to be.
Unfortunately I haven’t yet been able to achieve this stability and with Anna’s health taking a sudden turn, it has meant we are left in an extremely difficult financial situation that requires urgent action to ensure that I can continue to support Anna. Reaching out like this is really hard for me to do, but nowhere near what Anna is going through right now, so I’m finally trying to be honest about what it is we need. Coming to terms sooner has been difficult, we’ve been able to keep things going for so long, but these last 6 months have really taken their toll on us and I don't want to look back and think I missed my chance to be there for Anna when we needed each other the most.
We have always tried to focus on what we can do, not what we can’t do and adapted constantly over the years. As Anna’s daily struggles and her abilities lessen and pain is now constant, I have become her arms, legs, carrier, shoulder, toilet, toothbrush and now both parents to our dogs, really, whatever she needs me to be.
I’m reaching out for the opportunity to step aside from work for the time being and to devote my time to care for Anna and spend our precious days together.
Please help me give Anna that chance, your support will truly be appreciated at a time we need it the most.
