Anna's Battle with Ocular Melanoma
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Anna Miller, and I’ve recently been diagnosed with ocular melanoma, a rare and serious form of eye cancer.
This diagnosis has come as a shock to me and my loved ones, and the road ahead is filled with uncertainty. Ocular melanoma affects the eye, and though it is rare, it requires aggressive treatment and long-term care to manage. I am doing everything I can to stay positive, and I am committed to fighting this with strength, hope, and determination. But I am grateful this journey is not one I have to take alone.
This diagnosis comes with another layer of complexity, as it affects my career as a pilot. Through radiation treatment, there is no way to determine how much vision can be salvaged. This leads to a lot of uncertainty surrounding my ability to fly, because the stability of my vision will always be ambiguous. Aside from just the cancer recovery, there will be a long road with the FAA to regain my medical and get approval to fly again.
I am reaching out to my friends, family, and community for support during this difficult time. Your contributions will help cover medical expenses, treatment costs, and any other needs that arise as I work towards recovery. Every donation, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference and help ease the financial strain as I focus on healing.
Thank you for your kindness, love, and support.
With gratitude,
Anna
UPDATE: Dear friends, family, and kind supporters,
I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the overwhelming love, support, and generosity I’ve received through your donations. Your kindness has been greatly appreciated during this challenging time in my battle with cancer. I am truly humbled by the outpouring of care and compassion I’ve experienced from all of you.
For a brief update, I am currently recovering from my surgeries and radiation therapy. I feel better each day with the help of my friends and family who are helping to take care of me during this time. Later this March my biopsy results should be completed and that will give us a great perspective on the prognosis and future risks. We will also be able to see if the treatment was successful. We are hopeful to be cancer free, but at the very least, for me to be in remission. It will still be a while for us to realize the full effect the treatment had on my vision.
While this journey is far from over, knowing I’m not walking it alone makes a tremendous difference. Your continued support, whether through donations or simply sharing my campaign, brings me hope every single day. From the bottom of my heart—thank you. I couldn’t be more grateful.
