Annapurna Circuit in the Himalayas
One of our parents of Sandgate School, Ann Tuson, is currently trekking through the Annapurna Circuit in the Himalayas and hopes to raise money for our school's new climbing wall. Ann says 'We'll be trekking over 11 days, staying in tea houses in the villages and eventually reaching an altitude of around 4,300m. Along the way we'll be taking in the sunrise over Poon Hill, staying at Machhapuchhre Base camp taking in the magnificent views on the Annapurna region before reaching Annapurna Base Camp'.
Whilst the trip sounds like a trip of a lifetime it is sure to present lots of challenges along the way. Its monsoon season so at the very least she'll experience extreme weather conditions and temperature changes whilst she encounters gruesome climbs and 'primitive' living conditions.
Ann would love to use this opportunity to support Sandgate School in their venture to raise enough funds for a climbing wall in their new sports hall.
