My name is Annabel Guevara and I'm first-generation Latina pursuing a master's degree in Theater Management at Yale University this fall. I am grateful to have found theatre as a passion through public school education at the age of 12 in my hometown of Laredo, TX. Since then, I have dedicated my life to theatre and theatre administration and am excited about the next step.
The prestigious program at the Yale School of Drama is designed to cultivate the next generation of executive leaders in the field. I am one of seven in this incoming class and could not be more excited to pursue my MFA at this incredible institution at this time.
Attending Yale University is an opportunity of a lifetime, something I, as a first-generation American, could not have imagined growing up. And as the third person in my immediate family to go to college, it is an honor and distinction I can attribute to the hard work and dedication of my parents, two immigrants from Mexico who always centered the importance of education for us.
Yale is my dream and I'm writing to you today to ask if you would like to be part of my dream. While I was awarded a partial scholarship, I'm leading an individual education fundraiser to cover first-year living expenses. I'm sending it to loved ones in my family and friends circle. If you're able to give, any gift of any amount helps and will go a long way in making sure that I get a chance to live out this beautiful dream, with you by my side.
