Help Annabel, Nada & Talia get to Karate World Championships

Donation protected
Thank you for your generous support!
We have now switched off donations for this fundraiser with the World Championships starting this week.
Congratulations to Annabel Changer (14), Nada Wegrzyn (14) and Talia Nardelli (16) after being selected to represent England at the World Karate Championships taking place in Venice, Italy in October.
“We’re so excited and honoured
to be selected” say the girls
“This is the biggest stage
for karate”.
The girls already hold English and British championship titles for their categories and all train in Bishop’s Stortford and Saffron Walden with Pro-Karate Academy.
Unfortunately, there is no funding from the governing body to assist the girls with the expenses of this competition. Thank you for taking the time to read their fundraising page, any donation, support or sharing of their story is appreciated. Let’s fund the girls to do what they do best!

Our inspirational athletes:
Annabel is from Saffron Walden and has been training with the England squad for just over a year. Italy will be her first England cap so she’s going big for her debut! Annabel will compete in kumite, which is fighting or sparring in the -47 kg cadet female category.
Nada lives in Bishop’s Stortford and will be taking her second England cap as the only English female athlete to be selected in the cadet Kata category. Nada is one of the hardest working girls in the Academy, continually working on strength and conditioning and perfecting her katas (a detailed series of choreographed karate moves).
Talia, also lives in Bishop’s Stortford and has been practising karate since the age of 4 and training in the England squad since the age of 12. She is the current English and British champion in kumite (fighting) and will represent England, in the -66 kg Junior female category.
The girls all achieved their black belts in May 2023 and with the support of their Sensei Chelsea Sydes have competed in countless competitions.
They train a minimum of 4 times per week, after school, evenings and weekends, with monthly England Karate training held in the midlands. All balanced with school work and even Talia’s GCSE’s these past few months!
The girls are amazing role models with their hard-work, dedication and resilience.
On 6th July it all paid off with their selection. This is another step towards their dreams of being World champions.

Why we need your help
There is no financial support available and no central pot from the governing body. We are therefore looking to raise £2400 to help with costs associated with:
- Travel expenses to Jesolo, Venice, Italy
- Accommodation
- Karate kit (England tracksuits, karate gi)
- Competition registration and entry

How YOU can help:
  • Donate - any amount will help the girls represent their country on the world stage.
  • Share our campaign - share on social media, with family and friends and your local community.
We are incredibly grateful for any support in helping Annabel, Nada and Talia fulfil their dreams - Thank you!
