Anna Hanger Memorial Ride Fundraiser: Charleston to Columbia

This November, I will be riding 200 miles on the Palmetto Trail, one-way from Charleston to Columbia, in memory of my friend, Anna Hanger, who passed away from cancer in August 2020. We originally became friends at Georgia College in Milledgeville and she was, by far, one of the kindest souls around.

Anna had previously survived childhood brain cancer in 2003-2004 and, even in her second bout with cancer, still tithed her income to buy toys for children who were hospitalized from cancer. Her dream was to be a special education teacher. The world needs more Annas.

In support of my ride, to make it really count, I want to utilize this journey to raise money to donate to Anna’s Angel Fund. To that end, I am creating this Go Fund Me.

**** All donations I receive will be gathered and sent as one donation to Anna’s Angel Fund (any donations received after I complete the ride will be donated as they come in). No donations will go towards trip expenses. Every cent donated will go to Anna’s Angel Fund. *****

This 200-mile ride will be done completely by bike (and it’s not an e-bike!), starting in Charleston, South Carolina and ending in the state capital, Columbia. I anticipate this to take no more than two days and it is my plan, weather permitting, to complete it in the days preceding Thanksgiving. I will sleep along the trail in a campsite to be determined after day one and will complete the ride the following day. My lovely wife will pick me up in Columbia.
