“Pop”

On September 27, 2025, while cleaning out storage and getting ready to bathe one of her dogs, Bootsie, Anna bent down and heard a sudden “pop” from her back. The pain was instant and severe — “like a machete,” she said.

Doctors discovered a herniated disc in her L5-S1, pressing against her sciatic nerve and leaving her right leg barely functioning. For over a month, Anna has been incapacitated and unable to work. Despite weeks of physical therapy, her condition hasn’t improved — and now, she’s scheduled for back surgery on November 26th to remove the damaged section of the disc that’s causing the pain and nerve compression.

Pain

Anna has been in constant pain. She wears a back brace and uses a rollator or cane to get around. Sleep is difficult, and staying immobile has been emotionally draining — especially for someone as energetic and hardworking as Anna. However, this isn’t the first battle she’s faced in recent years.

Past: A Survivor’s Story

Anna is a domestic abuse survivor who has had to move more than a dozen times in the last year and a half to find safety and stability. The stress and physical strain of starting over again and again contributed to the injury that now has her confined and struggling. She’s exhausted — physically, emotionally, and financially.

If you know Anna, you know she’s the light in every room she walks into. She has a warmth that’s contagious. She’s thoughtful, hardworking, and is always laughing. She’s just wonderful! And she’s really been through it. If anyone “deserves” your help, it’s Anna.
