Ankeny Pride 2022!

Our first ever Ankeny Pride celebration is coming!   We know DSM Pride is just a few miles down the road the weekend before, but we want to provide a safe and affirming space for our friends and neighbors to celebrate in their hometown!  Let's show everyone how welcoming Ankeny can be! Join us June 17th from 5-9pm for an evening full of food, fun, and all-ages entertainment, then come back on June 18th to join us for our Rainbow Run! Event admission is free and ALL are welcome!

Any money left over at the end of the event will be distributed evenly among Ankeny Community Schools GSAs.

Who we are:



Meet the Bjorklunds-

Mark and Jill Bjorklund are the proud parents of Benjamin (9), Lily (7), and Brielle (2) and have lived in Ankeny since 2013.  Jill has served as a choir director in the Ankeny Schools since 2015 and currently serves at Southview Middle School where she also assists with the Gender Sexuality Alliance club.  Both she and her husband have enjoyed directing choirs and performing at their very welcoming and loving at their very welcoming and loving Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Ankeny since 2015.  In December of 2020 at the age of 5, the Bjorklund's middle child starting revealing her true self, which sparked the beginning of a beautiful journey that has led to where she is today!  She is living her best life as a transgender girl and has forever changed her entire family to become fierce advocates for everyone to live their truth!


Meet the Dreiers-

Jenn and Rachel Dreier have lived in Ankeny for 12 years and have three great kids! Laura (Calvin) of Des Moines, Eli of Iowa City, and Dylan.  After spending her life hiding herself from the world, Rachel has recently let others in to know her true self as a transgender woman. Jenn is a passionate advocate fighting for others to be able to live their best authentic lives and is finding her own along the way. Jenn and Rachel have navigated their journey with the love and kindness they wish for everyone. The Dreier family is moving to Washington State this summer, but is excited to share this event with our community before they go!
