Anita's Home Fire Recovery

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Joshua Lobkowicz and I am trying to raise money to help my mother (Anita) and half-brother (Zack) after they lost everything in a fire this morning (January 15th).

Right now they are safe and none of the human residents of the house were harmed in the fire but it does appear my mom's sweet old kitty Pookie did not make it. (This is the hardest thing for her right now).

The fire happened while everyone was at work and we don't yet know the cause of it but as of right now she no longer has a home and has nothing but the clothes on her back.

My mom is a very positive person and is grateful that no one was hurt and hopeful that she will get through this but obviously she needs some help right now. She has told me she has somewhere to stay tonight so despite it being cold in New Hampshire she's not in immediate danger.

The place she was living was a friend's home so there is no landlord or property management company to find another place for her. Just several now unhomed people trying to find a way forward.

My mom is a strong person and she will find a way to manage but housing is not easy to come by in her area and she doesn't have any savings. The funds I am trying to raise will go toward necessities so she has the tools she needs to recover. The things she needs right away are:

Clothes - Mom and Zach only have the clothes they are wearing and nothing more. They need clean clothes to go to work and cannot afford to miss work despite this tragedy. A friend has already brought them each a pair or warm sweatpants for comfort and warmth on this very cold New Hampshire day but they will need more than that to go on living and working through an inhospitable season.

Food - My mom is a wonderful cook! But without a home she doesn't have a stable place to prepare food. For the short term she'll need to buy prepared food until she has a place to live and cook. Obviously she would prefer to make healthy food at home but for now I just want to make sure she isn't going hungry.

After this our next concern is:

An Apartment / Other Long Term Housing  - At least first months rent and deposit will be needed for her to get a new place to stay. I have spent all morning calling property management companies and reaching out to people with listings on Facebook marketplace trying to find somewhere. Unfortunately there is very little availability and many of the available places are very expensive (~$1500/mo + utilities) and we are trying to find something sustainable as her rent prior to this was ~$600 with utilities included.

Finally she will need:

Furniture/Housewares - This is still a ways out but once we get the above things taken care of, mom will need to get new beds for her and Zack, dressers for the their clothes, and kitchenwares at a minimum to make sure they have a home that is fully usable.

Beyond the necessities, my mom is not worried about material possessions. They are just things after all. But I know making sure the necessities are taken care of will help as she processes the trauma of losing her home, her things, and her beloved cat in the blink of an eye.

We will all be very grateful for any support and thank you so much for looking and this fundraising campaign.
