Anita's battle with stage 4 lung cancer
Donation protected
It's been a goal of ours for a long time to buy property to share and work on with my parents and in June of 2022 we finally made that a reality.
We were busy renovating and getting settled in while talking about the dreams we had for our new home together when shortly after moving in my mom got very very sick, with, what we were told at the time, was pneumonia. They took chest X-rays and prescribed her antibiotics that seemed to work for a while. By October her cough was back and worse than ever. She would cough until she got so sick she couldn't keep food down, getting worse when she tried to lay down at night making sleep or any quiet time almost impossible. Never one to complain, we knew it must have gotten unbearable for her when she spent a day in the ER, it was there that they drained 1.5L from her chest and it was there in the hospital, just a few short days after Christmas, she was diagnosed with lung cancer. Cancer of any kind would be hard to believe but my mom has never been a smoker making lung cancer seem impossible to us all. I think we are all in complete shock honestly, it doesn't seem to be real.
Since then, she has had a catheter put into her chest so that my dad can continue to drain the buildup of fluid here at home every other day.
The PET scan and MRI that followed, revealed that the cancer has spread to her bones and lymph nodes which of course means she is at stage 4. This also puts her beyond the help of any conventional treatments such as surgery, chemotherapy and targeted radiation.
After much research, we found a place of hope that could potentially cure her cancer. However, because the treatment is considered experimental by our government, more specifically, the FDA, insurance will not cover it.
The Burzynski clinic in Huston TX has been curing cancer for several decades and we believe it's our only option. (Please click the link for more information: Burzynski clinic )
Many of you can relate to the sentiment that your mom is the one person you can count on to be there for the family and that is why we, as a family, are appealing to you for help. Any donation is a blessing.
My mom wants to live to help others and should her outcome be "cured of cancer" she wishes to serve other cancer victims in whatever way she can.
"Yes" To Life.
