Anita Haines cancer and kidney battle

Donation protected

7/5/2021..

**     My mother has had multiple surgeries and blood infections. Not only does she have stage 3 Large B-cell non-hodgkins lymphoma, she has stage 4 kidney failure, diabetes with neuropathy, cellulitis and charcot (her bones detaching ) on her legs and feet. Her medical expenses are piling up and me being her care-giver I'm missing alot of work.    Any donations are greatly appreciated and if you can't donate, please share.  ( I have more detailed info on my mother if you  want to read ).   **

This is an update on Anita Haines. The past year has been very rough and hard on her. In 2018 she had CAR-T CELL IMMUNOTHERAPY done. She didn't get the results we  was hoping for. So her doctors decided to do radiation. So in 2019 She had 10 rounds of radiation and they were trying to get the lymph nodes to shrink so the CAR-T CELL could attack the cancer and do their job. After the radiation, she started having bladder issues. In February 2020 she had Stints put in kidneys to see if this would help with bladder.  At this point they also had put a catheter in.  Then things went down hill, she had infection after infection. She had surgery on her  (, the antibiotic they gave her for infection caused her to get C-Diff and was hospitalized and that took over 2 months to get rid of then caught legionaires pneumonia. So she was in the hospital most of 2020. They decided to do another round of radiation and that took a toll on her too. She keeps getting blood infections after infections. Now in 2021 not only is she dealing with cancer and bladder issues, the blood infections has caused her to have to go thru dialysis. Not to mention she developed cellulitis on her left foot and Charcot (which we never heard of) that is what people with diabetes can develop and it is where their bones are literally detaching or coming apart and because she has neuropathy she can't feel the pain associated with this, so her foot doctor said she was not able to walk on her feet for 2 months or longer. She has had to go to a skilled rehab facility and the last couple of facilities was not the best of places to be. Since her long term disability with her job ran out, she has Humana medicaid and like other insurances for elder people they don't want to pay for anything. Its bad enough my mother has health issues and now has to worry if social security is going to take any asset  because rehab facility and hospital bills are piling up. She doesn't need to worry about these things.  Right now she has been in the hospital since April 26. they have sent her to 2 rehab facilities that she has had major issues with. The last facility didn't give her insulin for a week and caused her to  be sent to ER cause her sugar spiked to 448, They caused her to miss 5 dialysis treatments because of their neglect and caused her body to swell, not to mention no diabetic or kidney diet and  other things no patient should have to go through.

Hello everyone, this is my mother. She has been battling cancer for over 2 years now. Oh by the way, she has stage 3 non-hodgkins lymphoma. She had done 2 strong rounds of chemo and 2 smaller ones that didn't help. Her cancer had spread. Her local oncologist referred her to Columbus Ohio to The James cancer care center. She was to undergo CAR-T immunotherapy. This was a new procedure that was just approved the beginning of the year. We was excited to hear about this because of the 80% success rate. The drive could of been closer. But for the health of a loved one we will do it. The process was to extract T-cells from the body, have them sent to lab in California. They did some magic , and sent them back and was infused back into mom. The only bad thing about this procedure was the side effects, And when I say rough, it was bad, hard to see your mother go through this. She doesn't remember the first 2 weeks, thank goodness. She had fever spike to 105. Talk about scary. Mom was the oldest patient they had, and with all moms prior health problems ( diabetes, high blood pressure, kidneys not so strong ..etc.)they had to monitor her closely. Her face swelled, eyes blood shot, the fever for a week, she was sent to ICU. It was rough. And the fact that she was so far away from home. This was hard on us. When she came "out" of this she had to do 2 weeks of therapy.  She basically had to learn to walk again, write, just daily functions. She spent 6 weeks up in Columbus. She finally got to come home. But the work isn't over. She still has to do therapy. She is still weak. Her blood counts keep going up and down and she needs blood from time to time. Her platelets are the same way. She is not out of the woods yet. She is in need of donations for her bills she has accrued, the therapy she is getting, and medical equipment that has to be purchased for the house and her daily needs. I am her only child and I am doing all I can but I am limited and I have not been working since I been taking care of her. Please feel free to share this post and donations are helpful. Thanks so much for your time and ready our story. I could go on with all the stuff that my mother has went through, but I didn't want this to be too long of a read.
