As most of you know, I am friends with and shop for a senior citizen who is home bound. Her name is Anita Bloom, she is 83 years old, and she needs your help.
After cuts to her Social Security (from $1520.00 to $1433.00 a month) and a decrease in food stamp allotment ( from $152.00 to $47.00 a month ) Anita brings in $1480.00 each month. After paying her rent of $1011.00, Anita finds herself at the BEGINNING of each month with $469.00 left over for utilities, medication and food. That's roughly $108.00 a week. Many times these expenses have to be charged to a credit card.
The chair that Anita both sits in during the day and sleeps in each night is 15 years old and has recently begun to fall apart...literally. A physical ailment prevents her from sleeping flat at night, so the condition of a chair she sleeps in is very important.
We are hoping to purchase a chair that will allow her to sleep comfortably as well as rise to assist her in standing. After her AARP discount, we are faced with a bill of $1,999.00.
I realize the world is in turmoil and many deserving hands are stretched out for assistance, but we both would be so grateful if your generosity could stretch to include Anita as well. Please consider it. Any amount is appreciated.
