Animalympics helping Zoos

I am Josie Dom, children's author and Mum of two.  At the start of lockdown in the UK, my daughter told me that sloths were good swimmers.  That snippet led us to giggling over which animals would be good at which sport.  Silly  as it was, that conversation inspired me to start writing a poem and before long it became a fully-fledged epic telling the tale of 67 animals competing in 48 Olympic sports events, all because humans couldn't compete in 2020.

With animals on my mind, and having spent many hours enjoying zoo visits with my children, the plight of zoos in the UK struck a chord for me and I wanted to do something to help, as do many others.

In my Animalympics poem the animal kingdom saves the Olympics and now they're ready to step up to help their cousins in zoos around the UK.

With the help of Paralympic, Olympic and amateur sports stars we are raising funds for zoos so that their operating costs can be met.

Please donate what you can and in return you will receive a daily video of that day's Animalympics events (from 24 July - 8 August) in place of the Olympics coverage.
