Hi, my name is Jan Pridham and once again I am helping Shristi and her team of animal loving care givers to raise funds to expand their animal sanctuary based some 20 kilometres outside Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. Our first Go Fund Me campaign exceeded our expectations, and with some wonderful offline donations from our amazing supporters and followers, we were not only able to construct the Cow Shed and have the floor installed, and the custom- built Charai or feeding trough made and installed for all our rescued ladies and young calves, and one bull, we were also able to build a full dog house with individual large kennels, a mini goat room after several goats were saved from slaughter at the local meat market, erect a temporary stable for our pregnant horse, Precious and her friend to give them peace and quiet as Precious' pregnancy progressed. She gave birth to a beautiful healthy foal who we named Hope, after Precious had come from such dire circumstances.

Perhaps it was those traumatic experiences that led her to reject Hope, and we had to bottle feed her daily, bringing our amazing vet in to complete health checks on both Mum and new-born. Very sadly, a few days after Hope was born, Precious attacked her baby because Hope tried to attach onto her milk teats. The resulting injury to her chest was very serious and although our vet did everything he could, our beautiful baby passed away in the arms of her carers.

Thankfully such incidents are very rare at our sanctuary, but what we are finding is increasing is the number of callous abandonment of sick, injured , unwanted and very pregnant dogs at our main gates. Our property is fully protected by digital CCTV systems to protect our four legged family along with our humans on site. One particularly awful incident a few months back saw two men throw a heavily pregnant dog over the fence next to the gate, rather than face any staff member and simply sign her into our care. Her resulting injuries were so appalling, all we could do was administer pain relief until we could get her to our veterinarian clinic, where the only thing left for him to do was euthanize her. Not only one life was lost that sad day, so were the unborn pups inside her who were too young to be saved by performing an emergency C Section.

It is days when we see all our dogs happily cooling off in cold water pools dug out to keep them cool in the heat of the excess of the Indian summer, or our cows coming up to us in the fields to get scratched and rub themselves along us, we swear some think they are huge dogs!!❤- That help out those truly awful days into some kind of perspective.

We have been growing our own greens for our cows to enhance their diet and they love it! We had a disaster in recent thunderstorms, when a temporary store for it was quite simply blown away

Nature's force can and should never be underestimated, especially in India, but when very Rupee counts, and feeding our Animals always has to be our priority, finding funds for the next building projects have to go on the back burner.

This campaign is to build a Cow Shed more than double the size of our original one. There are so many abandoned cows, bulls, and young male calves on the roads and streets of Allahabad- they are being injured and killed by fast moving vehicles and drunk drivers who fail to even stop or report the accident. By the time an informant or official contacts a rescue group like us for help, an animal can have been left for many hours lying in abject agony without anyone even trying to help.

This is what we face every day. Without a second cow shed Animal Feeders cannot take in any more rescues, as they are full.

With your help, and God's good grace, we will be able to raise these funds to build this next Cow Shed and begin transferring the unwanted, abandoned former farm animals to a retirement home for the rest of their lives.

The contractor we have chosen has provided us with graphic drawings of how the Cow Shed will look and explained how the budget will be used for materials and labour.

We will be happy to share these invoices with you at the end of the project for total transparency.
