To date, we have published a small trove of articles on animal rights politics, assessments of various campaigns, some smaller commentary pieces, theoretical material -- and even some spoken word! We have experimented with podcasts, and are working towards our first filmed interviews. We are also examining ways to host critical conversations on campaigns with activist participants -- an essential element of movement dialogue.
We are the only animal liberation newsmagazine providing regular coverage and original reporting and analysis. We are the only socialist magazine prioritizing animal liberation politics.
We started this project with no resources - prioritizing a reader-supported model that allows us to be genuinely grassroots-driven and free from the constraints of corporate funders, welfare-dominated "advocacy" groups and special interest foundations. We have also resisted the subscription model-- preferring to make all of our material freely available for the widest public engagement possible.
We believe these are essential to authentic movement building.
We have big plans for the future! This is our first major fundraising effort to help us improve our work.
Our biggest needs are to increase our readership and our coverage. That means developing new writers, growing our staff and putting real resources into outreach.
In addition, we will be working on new podcasts, organizing educational forums and workshops, and further developing our website.
None of this can be possible without your help.
Movements cannot be strong without strong, independent media. Animal Liberation Currents is offering unique perspectives for animal politics.
You can help us make it even better.
