My name is Sabrina and I would like to help Dawn Jones (Coober Pedy Second Chance Animals) fundraise enough money to be able to purchase a building in town for animals to be looked after.
The building will look after stray animals who will be rehomed to Adelaide and are currently looked after by Dawn and other carers in their private houses. If a facility was purchased for these animals the work of feeding, cleaning and walking these animals can be shared with volunteers in town and there would be more capacity to take more animals into the shelter and off Coober Pedy streets.
The second part to be able to afford food and the facility’s expenses is a doggy daycare/boarding kennel, for locals and tourists alike. These dogs and cats would be kept separately and dogs/cats must be vaccinated and desexed to be able to board. This opportunity helps other businesses in town as some people can’t go on day tours with our local operators due to having to look after their pets.
A future plan will be to attract a vet within the facility.
We had numerous retired vets interested to come to town, however as soon as they get to know the current facility they are no longer interested.
Please donate so we can purchase the building and make a welcoming place for pets and stray animals alike.
The building (once purchased) will be donated to the Coober Pedy community and "Paws and Claws" (an animal rescue shelter in Adelaide).
Disclaimer: If we are unable to raise the whole amount to purchase the property we will allocate your donations to different causes, like purchasing food for animals, vet bills for desexing animals and transport costs to Adelaide.
Thank you for all your support.
Sabrina
