Hi, my name is Majon Heesen.

I’m currently on Bonaire, and today I visited FKK Hondenopvang Bonaire.

I’ve always consciously kept my distance from places like this,

because I find situations like this very hard to deal with.

But now that I’ve been there… I can’t let it go anymore.

This fundraising campaign will not solve the problem structurally.

For that, we need policy, prevention, and responsibility from the government of Bonaire.

But in the meantime, we also cannot look away.

FKK officially has space for fifty dogs.

At this moment, there are around one hundred.

In just one weekend, eighteen dogs were brought in.

These people are being completely overwhelmed.

All of these dogs are looking for a loving home and a safe place to belong.

But right now, there is also an urgent need for financial support.

Medical costs alone are approximately three thousand dollars per month.

In addition, they are desperately looking for volunteers —

people who can come and cuddle the dogs,

help with daily care, medication, special nutrition, anti-flea treatments,

and improving the kennels.

That’s why I started this fundraiser.

Not because this is the solution,

but because these dogs need care right now.
