I am a singer/songwriter/performer in Toronto that has been granted acceptance in the coveted Early Fall Music Residency at Banff Arts Center!!! I mean, can you see ME... in the mountains... feeling myself and in my element...fully embrassing this opportunity to create and cultivate new music??? I can and I hope you can too. I have been creating music for a while now and my musical journey has taken many forms and has gone through many transitions to be where I am today. Not to mention this year alone has been amazing so far as I underscored music for a play that received a Dora award!
As a mother of 2 boys, I am so proud that they are cheering me on to get to Banff and I want to show them that I can. I want to show myself and them that there are friends, family and community that are willing to help simply because they understand what it means to be in this world whether you are an artist or not. Simply put: we need each other to support each other.
Although this opportunity to go to Banff Arts Centre and work on more musical offerings is a great one, I am in need of resources to get there as it does come with a cost. I was awarded partial financial aid of $1, 462 which they have addeed directly to my tuition which I am so grateful for! There are remaining costs that need to be paid to get there.
With your generous donation, your money will go to help with these costs that are still outstanding.
The costs:
-Banff Residency remaining cost:$1,583.74
-Airfare:$446.73(roundtrip) + Instrument transport fee
-Shuttle bus from Calgary Airport to Banff and back on last day of residency :$200
-Room in Banff:$755.87
There is a deadline to pay for the remainder of the Banff residency cost which is August 26th. I would love to raise half of the funds at least by this date.It's cutting it a close to be sending a campaign right now, but I was insecure about asking for assistance...now, I'm over it!
