Ania Volovique's Brain Tumor Recovery

As many of you already know, our dear friend Ania Malakhova recently got into a car accident due to fainting, which left her totally unharmed. A few weeks later, she had a seizure and fell from a chair. After the seizure, Ania was hospitalized. Further testing led the doctors to discover a 5 cm brain tumor, which explained both the seizure and the earlier car accident.
Because of the tumor's size and the fact that her brain was inflamed, the doctors had to move quickly to remove it. After her surgery on August 15th, the tumor's tissue was tested. The tumor turned out to be a glioma, an aggressive type of tumor. Because of this Ania will need many weeks of radiation and chemotherapy. The treatment will be difficult and starting as soon as possible.
Ania's mom, Olga, is planning to move to San Diego for at least a couple of months to provide the 24/7 care Ania will need during this difficult time. We will be working on helping them rent an apartment close to the treatment facility. Olga is going to need to take a leave of absence from her job, which will cause her to lose most of her pay during this time. They have no other family here in the U.S.
Ania is one of the strongest people I know (and many of you will agree) - I know she can win this fight. But Ania and her mom will need the help of her community for this difficult journey ahead. We are running this fundraising campaign to help cover the many expenses her mom is going to incur in the months ahead and to make sure that Ania gets the best help possible. All funds will go directly to Ania's mom and towards Ania's recovery.
