Hello friends and family,
im happy to introduce myself as Maycie, Ani’s middle child.
I am grateful to be able to make this Go Fund for my mom, while I hate to reach out financially, I am so excited to say that my mom finally got the Kidney she has been waiting for! As most of you know for the past 20 years, she has had a disease called Polycystic Kidney Disease.
Back in 2020 my mom became very ill, life-threateningly sick, and was hospitalized. Thank the Lord she recovered completely, however, it seems, since that time, her Kidneys have been declining rapidly!
By living a healthier lifestyle, leaning on her faith alone with a lot of prayer, Mom was able to keep dialysis at bay until this miracle.
This kidney came along just in time, raising her 2 grandchildren as a single parent and often working 50+ hours per week, it had become very difficult to have the energy to function. Mom began to develop many additional symptoms which made each day a greater challenge to keep up with life.
She got the call and was miraculously blessed with an anonymous kidney from a live donor, she LITERALLY won the kidney lottery! Her kidney transplant was on May 9, 2023! And a complete success!! :-)
We as a family are doing all we can, however, today we are asking for help because she will be unable to work for the next 6-12 weeks as she is recovering from her transplant. Unfortunately, she has to remain in Arizona, she must be near the hospital to keep a very close eye on her kidney during this crucial time. Additionally, she has to keep the house in San Diego for her grandkids! Her sister Lori came from Nebraska to stay with them while they finish their school year.
With that being said, my mom’s rent alone is nearly $4000 a month, she now has mounting medical bills, and her anti-rejection meds alone are over $250 per month…we are trying to raise money to help maintain a home for the kids in California while having to stay in Arizona! Our goal is for her rent to be paid for June, July & August along with as much as we can towards her $7000 deductible.
I am doing this in an effort to alleviate at least some financial stress on my mom, stress is poison to the kidneys!
Anything helps! If you can’t donate, please keep Ani in your thoughts and prayers for a fast, happy recovery! And please pray for the donor as they are healing and
recovering as well.
If you would like to Venmo myself at
@maycievaughn or my moms @Ani-vaughn instead of through GoFundMe that is okay also.
Thank you all for your support and love always, but specifically through this exciting and challenging time
*Mom has been notified her company is closing and has officially been laid off. Please say prayers for her as she continues to focus on healing, as she seeks God's guidance for what is next for her and the grandkids. She is fully living in faith and laying it at Christ's feet & says she is at peace knowing there is a "plan that will reveal itself in God's time, not mine", she reports that she just wants to continue to focus on the healing for now. Thank you all for your continued prayers!
