Angus Standridge's Healthy Heart Fund
Donation protected
When Angus was just 12 years old, on an ordinary night like countless others, he suddenly became ill. His father rushed him to Shands hospital, and within hours of arriving we learned that his heart was damaged beyond repair by a virus, and he was placed on life support. For months, as Angus remained in the ICU connected to the Berlin Heart, his family and loved ones waited and prayed for a miracle. It finally came, and on April 22, 2013 Angus received a new heart. For over six years, this heart has given all of us the beautiful gift of time. Time that would not have been possible without the selfless gift of organ donation.
Now, at just 19 years old, Angus has graduated from high school, completed a one year IT program, and is getting ready to move out on his own and continue his education at Santa Fe College in Gainesville, FL. What an exciting time for an amazing kid who has overcome so many challenges, and done so while remaining one of the most kind, loving, and compassionate young men I have ever known. He may not have the heart he was born with, but he truly has a heart of gold.
Angus is now facing another unexpected challenge. The heart that has bought him all of this time with us is now failing. Angus was admitted to the ICU once again, and the doctors are doing all that they can to optimize his heart function and buy him more time. This means lots of expenses for him and his family, including $7,000 out of pocket for insurance, plus gas, food, and countless other expenses.
Angus and his family have countless question and concerns, and meeting their insurance deductible should be the last thing on their minds during this stressful time. This go-fund-me has has been started to help raise the $7,000 needed to cover the hospital expenses. Please join me in giving to this family, and to this amazing young man. I can think of no one who is more deserving.
