Angotti Hurricane IDA recovery

Donation protected

Hi this is John Angotti and our home was utterly destroyed during Hurricane Ida in LaPlace Louisiana. My three daughters lost every personal item a child cherishes in their playroom and back yard. But worse, our family lost our home and we are told because of the widespread destruction and that our home is located in one of the worse parishes to be hit (St. John the Baptist Parish) it will be a very long road to home recovery and even getting the supplies for the rebuilding process to begin.

Because we DO have home insurance, we have been denied by FEMA for Emergency Living assistance. Our insurance is telling us we need to reapply/appeal FEMA.

We cannot get a roofing company to return a call to us to even “get in the rebuilding line” after calling multiple companies- multiple times, daily since the morning following the destruction .

We are essentially homeless at this point with a home insurance deductible of $11,500, which we do not have just lying around. We are burning through our savings as it is, in order to provide basic necessities for our 3 children and secure housing for them AND my mother who is in her late 70’s and a fall risk. (She is still recovering from a fall which resulted in a broken shoulder), We are doing this while me and my wife work vigorously in the heat without power, removing debris from our home and still going to our real jobs daily.

We have received zero help from anyone on the debris removal, as everyone we know is in severe need themselves during this time. We have not been able to get any assistance from organizations because we don’t meet their criteria of financial need, but are literally financially tapped out.

We are desperately praying to raise enough money to help with the cost of basic necessities being met for our three children aged 4, 6, and 8, and my mother during this time, and raise money for our insurance deductible so that we can actually begin the rebuilding process once someone does return our calls.

We literally have no idea where our children will go to school, where we will live, how they will eat or how we will secure the funds for all new school materials which we JUST purchased, but lost, new school uniforms etc.

This is all overwhelming!

We have worked so hard for so many years in our community and surrounding communities to help those in need and the sick and the children and donated time and money and items for their causes and needs and worked hard in our jobs and contributed to our economy and now when we are so desperate for any help, we feel defeated, helpless, and alone.
