Why I'm Raising Funds: A Climb for Compassion, an Abseil for Change

Hello everyone,

My name is Sandra Unite, and at 76 years young, I'm preparing for a challenge that makes my heart race just thinking about it! I'm abseiling down the Marquess of Anglesey's Column, a towering monument steeped in history, soaring 27 meters (almost 90 feet!) into the Welsh sky.

Yes, you read that right – I'm abseiling! But this isn't just about personal daring; it's about shining a light on a cause that deserves our attention and compassion: the plight of stray dogs in Egypt.

Imagine these dogs: abandoned, vulnerable, facing hunger, disease, and cruelty on the unforgiving streets of Egypt. They are innocent creatures in desperate need of our help.

That's why I'm dedicating this challenge to supporting Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs. TNR is a humane, effective, and globally recognized solution to managing stray populations. It offers these dogs a chance at a better life, and it's a solution that works.

Here's how TNR makes a real difference:

Sustainable Population Control: Spaying and neutering prevent countless unwanted litters, humanely reducing the number of strays.

Essential Healthcare: TNR includes vital vaccinations, protecting dogs and the community from diseases like rabies.

Dignity and Respect: TNR is a compassionate alternative to inhumane methods of population control, treating these animals with the kindness they deserve.

Community Well-being: Healthier, sterilized dogs contribute to a safer and more harmonious environment for all.

But TNR programs need resources to succeed. The cost of trapping, veterinary care, and community education adds up, and the dedicated organizations in Egypt are working tirelessly to make a difference. They need our support.

That's why I'm taking on this challenge, climbing the 115 steps inside the Marquess of Anglesey's Column, a monument that stands tall overlooking the Menai Strait and the majestic mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia). And then... I'm abseiling down!

At 76, this isn't a simple feat. But knowing that every foot of that descent represents hope for these dogs keeps me going. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly towards funding TNR programs, providing vaccinations, and giving these animals a chance at a brighter future.
