Angi's Pink Army: Breast Cancer Battle
Donation protected
On September 2nd, Angi went in for her yearly mammogram. She had missed her mammogram in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the ever changing hospital rules during that time. A few days later, she was called and told she needed to have a repeat mammogram completed. On September 22nd, she went in for a repeat mammogram. A few days later at her follow up appointment, she was told the radiologist had found 2 masses on her mammogram films and she would need to have a biopsy done to determine whether or not the masses were cancerous. At the end of September, she had a biopsy done.
On October 1st, her life was turned upside-down when she received the diagnosis that no woman (nor man) wants to hear from their doctor, "You have breast cancer. The masses are cancerous. We will need to remove the masses and you will need to undergo radiation therapy afterwards. Possibly chemotherapy depending on the extent." She underwent a lumpectomy on October 14th to remove the masses and a couple lymph nodes from her armpit region to confirm whether or not the cancer had begun to spread. The surgery went well and she was discharged to home on the same day. On the 19th, she was told she needed an additional surgery to remove more tissue. There were cancerous cells detected in the tissues surrounding where the masses were and within the lymph nodes. She was also formally diagnosed with Stage 2A Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. She went in for her 2nd surgery on October 21st. Again, the surgery went well and she was discharged the same day. On the 26th, she had another follow up appointment which she received additional bad news. There were cancerous cells within the surrounding tissue they removed. She would need a mastectomy to stop the spread.
Her mastectomy is scheduled for November 2nd.
I (Rachel, Angi's daughter) am starting this GoFundMe on her behalf because my Mom and Dad are the first people who are willing to give support (monetary or otherwise) when other people are suffering within their community. They would give the shirts off their back if they had nothing else to give. Now, my Mom is the one in need of support. The funds raised will be used to help pay for her medical bills and cancer treatments. Any amount donated is greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for supporting Angi during this difficult time. Please keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers during the coming months.
