Angiographic Embolization Surgery

Donation protected
Hello! I'm Sean Ryan. Over the last 10 months, I've been struggling with a medical condition known as varicoceles. While it's often harmless, in my case, it has caused significant soreness and pain. I've been diagnosed with grade 2 varicoceles on both sides, and the pain has intensified in the last month.

The recommended surgery is called an angiographic embolization. It's an outpatient procedure where I'll be sedated. The doctors will use a catheter, either through my leg vein or a small incision in my neck, and locate the varicocele using an x-ray. They'll then fill it with tiny coils or another medical substance to redirect blood flow and, hopefully, relieve my pain.

The condition's unpredictability means I can have days with little to no symptoms, followed by days of constant pain. Heavy lifting and physical exercise exacerbate the pain, affecting my physically demanding job as an Amazon Delivery Driver and impacting how I support myself and my dog. It also hinders my enjoyment of activities like rock climbing, crucial for my mental health.

We just got past the holiday season, so any contribution, even just sharing this post, would mean a lot. Thank you so much if you choose to donate—I am incredibly appreciative of anyone willing to help. :)
