Angies Dementia Care

Donation protected

In 2020, at only 50 years old, Angie was officially diagnosed with early onset Frontotemporal Dementia. This disease has had a devastating effect on Angie’s life, stripping away her once vibrant personality and leaving her completely unable to care for herself.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the disease, Frontotemporal Dementia is a type of dementia that often presents symptoms between the ages of 40-65, where it progressively shrinks the areas of the brain that affect language, memory, personality and motor functions. Unfortunately, due to symptoms that may mimic other health issues, many people are misdiagnosed or undiagnosed for extended periods of time, resulting in a more progressed disease at diagnosis -and leaving less time available to financially prepare for the patient’s eventual required long-term care.

Angie grew up in Edgewater, where she and her family were members of St Gertrude's Parish. She attended St Scholastica and St. Gertrudes. She received her Masters in Teaching at Southern Illinois University, and worked for the Archdiocese of Chicago for many years. Angie loved her time in the classroom as a teacher, and enjoyed engaging and inspiring young children while working at various Catholic schools across Chicago. For those of us who are gifted to know her, Angie has always been a dependable and caring friend, sister, daughter and aunt. She loved her pets, country music, Chicago sports and most importantly, spending time with her loved ones.

We are glad to report that Angie is now living in an assisted living home near her family, where she is receiving the quality care she needs and deserves. But she is quickly running out of the funds required to stay safe and secure under their care. While the progression of Frontotemporal Dementia is vastly unpredictable, our hope is to be able to continue to provide Angie with her own private living space - a place where she is most comfortable - for as long as possible.

As the need for additional funds has become great, Angie’s friends and loved ones have decided to start this page to ask those of you who know and love her, had played an important part in her life or shared a community, or feels called in their heart to assist in any way - to donate whatever they are able so that we may continue to provide Angie with the best care possible.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity!
