Angie, the Helper, Needs Our Help

Angie needs help. She has spent her entire adult life in the help professions – teaching, counseling, and case management. And now, she needs us – she needs you.
A few months ago, Angie was diagnosed with a large mass in her chest. She developed pneumonia – several rounds of pneumonia! Finally, Angie went to the emergency room. Doctors ran tests that revealed cancer and explained Angie’s diagnosis: stage 4 lung cancer and fungal pneumonia. One of the doctors, however, wanted to perform an additional diagnostic procedure – more invasive – another biopsy just to make sure. Although the biopsy was successfully completed, the surgery proved too hard on Angie’s lungs, throwing her into complete respiratory failure! Angie was on a ventilator in the ICU for weeks. We didn’t know if she would survive.
Angie did survive! Then, we all learned that the additional biopsy confirmed a more hopeful diagnosis: stage 2 Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Her oncologists couldn’t be happier and have informed Angie that she can survive this – she might just beat it. However, she is still quite sick, recovering from the pneumonia and sepsis that she had developed while hospitalized.
Another ongoing battle involves her current and future treatment. Angie now faces a very strong chemotherapy regimen every other week for the next six months, possibly longer. Angie has lost all income for the time being because she is essentially self-employed. She cannot work, but she wants to work again as soon as she is capable. Staying home is so hard on this lifelong helper! Now Angie faces too many growing needs that we hope to help her fill – daily needs that are critical for her family’s survival.
Here are a few key areas in which Angie needs our help:
- The mortgage is several months behind!
- She needs a reliable car.
- Angie needs a professional assessment for the elimination of a growing mold/mildew issue in her ventilation system. Putting this off may further compromise her weakened immunity and her lung-health situation!
- Numerous home repairs and general maintenance have been put on hold.
Angie and her girls are desperate for our immediate help. Both girls are still teenagers living at home. Erin just started college, and Cora plays school sports with continuous needs for equipment. Whatever your kind hearts can give to Angie and her family would be so appreciated!
Let’s help this HELPER. Let’s get Angie back on her feet. She is so scared. Together, we can help reduce her fears. Fighting off cancer is one thing, but fighting off bill collectors adds an unbearable burden, increases stress, and multiplies her fears. Let’s help reduce the stress and eliminate fears, so Angie can focus on her health and get well for her family … for all of us!
