On September 25th, our beloved Angie suffered a stroke at the age of 53. The stroke occurred on the left side of her brain, and this affected the right side of her body. Initially, she was not able to verbally communicate and was not able to move her right arm or leg at all.
Before this devastating event, Angie was a joyous woman with a passion for life, including her longstanding career as a Paraprofessional at the Yellville School District; reading a new book with her feline friends close by; spending time with her friends and family; enjoying a glass of wine with her puppy dog, Ridley, on her lap; and navigating life with her dearest husband, Bill.
Angie has spent every minute of the past month in the rehabilitation center at Baxter Health. With the physical, occupational, and speech therapist’s help, she has regained strength, she is communicating better each day, and best of all – she has regained movement in both her right arm and leg.
Today (Friday, November 3rd) is the day that Angie is leaving the hospital to go back to her home. Angie has been counting down the days to her release and we are all very grateful to get her back to a more familiar environment.
While we are thrilled with the exemplary care she has received at the Rehab center and the road forward in life they have given her, Angie’s recovery and therapy will not stop once she gets home. This crisis has led to a lot of heartache as well as the daunting task of extended physical and speech therapy and looming financial burdens. Many accommodations will be required for continued therapy, and we want to give her the very best chance possible.
Any contributions will go directly to Angie and Bill to help support the out-of-pocket charges for the extended hospital stay and what will likely be many months of continued therapy and rehabilitation. Any donation is greatly appreciated and will go far in helping Angie during this life-altering and tragic time. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
