Hi folks! My name is Angie and I am unexpectedly in need of a hysterectomy. Some of you may already know that I had a uterine embolization 2 years ago to block the blood flow of multiple fibroids on my uterus so I could stop having extreme issues during my menstrual cycles. The pain it was causing and blood flow made me anemic and caused me to not be able to even go to work some days. I had an awesome job that had great medical insurance and FMLA that covered most of the cost of having the procedure and to heal from having it. A few months after I was able to go back to work, I got laid off along with over 600 other sales consultants across the Midwest to West Coast. The company felt it was more cost-effective to have computers do our work.
Well, the embolization did not work for one of the 5 fibroids they blocked the blood flow to. It is now the size of a baseball and causing me the same health issues as before. This is the reason for the need for a hysterectomy. Surgery is scheduled for march 6th 2025.
Even though I am working again, the new job does not offer medical benefits and I am unfortunately making about half the money as I was before.
The cost of the surgery itself is $8000 and even though my husband has medical insurance, our deductibles add up to about this amount, give or take a few hundred dollars.
I will need to spend a month to recover and won't be able to work during this time. I feel fortunate to even be able to keep the job and go back to work once I am all healed up.
My husband, Jason will also have to take the month off to help me do the things around the house while I am recovering and loose his normal wages by taking FMLA that he is offered.
Ultimately, this is something I am not going to be able to financially afford without asking for some support.
I will still need to make my monthly bills for just keeping a roof over my head and keep myself and animals fed.
I do, however, do many things around my house and property to grow my own food and herbs. I also raise ducks for eggs! Yummy!
If anyone out there in the local community has any financial offerings, I would love to give away some plant starts and/or eggs in gratitude.
I am excited to start getting my seeds going in the basement, then to the greenhouse, and eventually outside to the soil in the ground!
If I am leaving any information to the imagination, please feel free to ask me anything. I don’t want to overshare here but I don’t want to leave anything unexplained either.
