Angie needs a life saving organ transplant.
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Colleen and I am fundraising for my dear friend Angie Schommer.
Please help me support Angie with finding a donor and with the added financial burden of her upcoming kidney/pancreas transplant.
If you know Angie, you know she is not one to ask others for help, she is usually the one helping! She is always the first to step up and volunteer if someone needs anything whether it is a family member, friend, coworker or an organization in the community. Angie is always there to support and that is why it is so important right now that we do what we can to support her, while her life depends on it.
Angie has been fighting chronic kidney disease for the past several years, as a secondary complication of having type one diabetes since childhood. Unfortunately, the disease progressed rather rapidly, and she is now facing end-stage renal failure, which will require a life-saving kidney transplant.
Fortunately, after over a year of tests and not qualifying for several Kidney Transplant List in WI, Angie received life changing news in January 2022 that she was accepted on the Kidney Transplant list at Mayo Clinic Transplant Center in Rochester MN. After not qualifying for the transplant list in WI Angie’s future was not promising and this blessing has given her new hope for a happy and healthy future!
Angie has been working harder than ever to make sure she can save enough money to cover the costs of her illness and complications, as well as sustain a period of disability, while waiting for and recovering from her transplant. Unfortunately, many unexpected costs are associated with transplant surgeries that are not covered by insurance. The recovery period could be weeks or months long and she will now need to live in Rochester MN during that time. The money we are trying to raise will go toward paying the medical cost not covered by insurance, housing during her recovery period and cost related to travel to and from Rochester.
This is a very stressful time for Angie. She is attempting to continue to live her normal life; working as long as can, and still helping others when she can. All while balancing continuous medical procedures and declining health. Knowing that some of other expenses would be taken care of financially will be a huge relief to her.
Any additional funds will be donated to charities that assist others with transplant needs or will go toward assisting diabetics in receiving their life-sustaining medication.
We are asking for your help in any way that you are able; donating, sharing our fundraiser, or spreading the word about living kidney donation and Angie’s need for one. If you would prefer to mail a check, please contact me and please do not forget to put Angie in your prayers for a donor match and a successful surgery and recovery!
Please continue to follow Angie’s journey to recovery!
If you are interested in finding out if you are a potential match for Angie, please contact me with any questions you may have. Statistically, fewer than 1 in 10 applicants are approved as a suitable match, so the more people interested, the better the chances are!
