Angie McNeil Turn the Tables DJ Project
Donation protected
To celebrate the life of the amazing Angie McNeil , who passed away in April, we are raising money in her name for the following project. It incorporates some of the things Angie was passionate about… music, working as a DJ and working with youngsters with a special interest in mental health.
To fund this pilot project, which we hope to be long term, we hope to raise £5,000 to kickstart a youth work mental health project, in Angie's name, with the award winning Turn The Tables DJ Project .
Funds will help Turn The Tables pilot a DJ and digital music based social prescribing project aimed at improving the mental health of young people aged 15+ through music.
Turn The Tables mission is to reimagine DJing as a day time activity, removing barriers to engagement to prove like any other artform DJing can benefit mental health. Improving self esteem, teaching a new and exciting creative output and creating a space for socialising with likeminded people. Turn The Tables has worked within the homelessness community in Edinburgh and Glasgow as well as on youth work projects with Spartans Community Football Academy and Action For Children.
The pilot project will include try out DJ workshops as well in-depth courses, available as both group workshops and 1:1 sessions for young people with additional needs. The project will be made available to participants through social prescribing through the NHS and working in partnerships with local mental health and community groups.
