“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”
Courage to Ask for Help
Being a single parent is not necessarily a life full of struggles, yet it can be a journey for the strong. But when struggles abound, sometimes having to ask for help is the bravest move one can make. It takes courage!
Angi “GiGi” McCrory, is a single mom. Her son is 7 years old. She is also a creative, intelligent, hardworking and loving person who has been struggling with back pain for the last several years, progressively getting worse each year. Walking became extremely difficult and pain was an everyday occurrence. Somehow she gave it her all, trying to hold on to a smile, a full time job and taking care of her son. It took courage!
After being misdiagnosed over a year’s time by 3 different doctors with no resolve, it was finally determined that Angi required double hip replacement surgery. Relieved to finally have an answer to her health issues, she gained new hope that some sort of quality of life could return for her and her son. Angi plowed forward to have both hips replaced at the same time. What courage!
Unfortunately, at her post-op visit, Angi was shocked to find out that the hole drilled into her femur had gone too deep, and the implant was slipping, pulling the hip joint out of socket. Her femur was cracked, and Angi was ordered not to put any weight on that leg whatsoever! To make matters worse, it was also discovered that her other hip’s incision was infected, and she had to spend a week in the hospital treating the infection with major antibiotics. While she is on Family Medical Leave (FMLA) at work, she has run out of leave pay and no longer receives a paycheck. Facing these struggles…takes courage!
Now, the doctor has scheduled another hip replacement surgery and repair of the broken femur for Angi in July. This recovery can take up to 8 weeks, and remember, no paycheck! There is also indication that she might have to have the other hip redone. With resources dwindled and this extensive corrective surgery ahead, Angi needs your help! She’s reduced her expenditures to bare minimum; no cable, no internet, no unnecessary spending; thus any donation you can give will boost the courage Angi needs to get thru her struggle.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Please keep Angi and her son in your prayers, and your generosity is gratefully appreciated.
