My name is Alixandra and I am raising money to help my dear friends and that are new parents Angie and Joe Marett with their medical expenses as they have had an extended inpatient stay during pregnancy and their precious baby Myles is in NICU care at Magee’s Women’s Hospital In Pittsburgh.
Angie and Joe were newlyweds last summer and found out they were expecting in the fall and were both so ready and excited to be the best parents and we all knew they would be. Angie began to have complications 6 weeks into the pregnancy and started to have bleeding on and off from a subchorionic hematoma that eventually turned into a possible placental abruption. There were many trips to the emergency room and doctors calls thinking the worst over the next couple of months, holding their breath to get another week under their belts. Then at 20 weeks their local OB/GYN thought they would be delivering the baby very early which was very scary because babies don’t typically survive that early. By the grace of God, they made it 20 more days to get to their consult at Magee’s Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. Angie was actually admitted that day and was diagnosed with pprom, which means her water broke sometime around 19-20 weeks. She spent the next 53 days in the hospital praying their baby boy would be able to stay cozy for a little longer and keep growing strong. Their first Christmas as husband and wife was spent in the hospital, New Years, and birthdays and other countless ups and downs of life living from their hospital room. They continued to be so brave as their family and friends rallied in prayer for them. Joe was traveling back and forth to Pittsburgh, working and taking care of their two dogs at home with the help of their family and friends. Angie went through countless IVs, blood draws, medications, injections, scans, daily tests to keep improving the baby’s maturity to improve his chances of survival. Angie celebrated her 30th birthday and 2 days later on January 19, 2024 sweet baby Myles made his grand entrance into the world. He made it all the way to 30 weeks and 3 days. He was rushed off, intubated and placed into the NICU for testing. Joe and Angie finally got to hold their miracle baby after the doctors made sure he was stable. Myles has since been taken off of the ventilator and his lungs are growing stronger with the help of different levels of oxygen machines, he has graduated from his bilirubin light and his umbilical line and he is steadily gaining weight and is able to get his nutrition through an orogastric tube and is continuing to improve and grow stronger each day. Angie and Joe are by his side reading him stories by his incubator, taking any opportunity they can to hold and snuggle and care for their baby boy and learning so much from the nurses and doctors in their NICU premie parent journey. Angie was discharged and she and Joe have been staying in Pittsburgh and Joe going back and forth in countless trips to Marienville and back getting things ready for when Myles can come home sometime in the next couple of months. After she was cleared at her post partum appointment, Angie was rushed to the hospital via ambulance across Pittsburgh for an infection at her cesarean incision site. She required another hospital stay, with more IVs and medications and now requires a wound vac to treat the infection. She has been discharged but requires multiple more doctors visits and nurses care as she fights this infection. Angie hasn’t been home to Marienville since November 27th and Joe has been putting countless miles in driving all over the last few months. This beautiful little family is stronger and more resilient than most. I am raising money to help them with their financial burden as they are all fighting to get stronger and healthier every day. Hoping to lighten the enormous weight that comes with medical expenses and premature deliveries and post partum care on top of being out of work for an extended period of time, driving back and forth countless times. They have come so far and they have a journey ahead of them still. I know many of Angie and Joe’s family and friends want to help them in some way since we are all so far away. If you are able to donate in anyway, Thank you so much for helping this beautiful family and continue to pray for their strength and healing.
