Help Angie Heine pay for her bucket list wishes
Donation protected
Angie Heine (also known to some of you as Angie Barr) is a very dear friend to lots of us. I personally have been privileged to know Angie for well over a decade now after initially meeting at Partners bar. I’m sure some of you have known her for much longer. Many of you will already know that she has been diagnosed with stage 4 terminal cancer. It has obviously come as an enormous shock to her, just as it has to all those who know and love her; the kind of event one can never be prepared for.
Angie does not want to talk about time frames but has decided to stop chemotherapy as she was finding it so gruelling, a decision her doctors agree with. As a result of this, being the person that she is, Angie wants to focus on making memories with her many loves ones as well as on tying up loose ends and making plans for afterwards. Forever selfless, she wants to ensure that everything is dealt with, to make this as smooth as possible for the people (and animals) she leaves behind.
Angie has donated her body to science at the University of Malta for a period of three years, after which she will be released. It is her greatest wish that she be transported back to her home, Nadur on Gozo, and laid to rest there when this happens. A kind and trusted friend will be rehoming Angie’s three cats together and thus she would like to be able to leave an amount for food. It will come as no surprise to anyone that Ang is still feeding and taking care of the local strays (as she has done anywhere she has lived) and has managed to make arrangements with another local lady who will continue this kind duty. She would also like to leave some money with this lady for these costs.
I know Angie has friends everywhere at this point, hundreds in Malta and Gozo and many others further afield. Whether you know her through the tourism industry and the many, many places she has worked over the years or as the local cat lady, forever feeding or with a tiny, newborn kitten or two in tow, you’ll know her kindness and strength of character. After years of helping others, she now needs a helping hand herself.
The goal set encompasses the costs of bringing Angie back to Nadur, money for both cat friends previously mentioned and enough for Angie to tick off her bucket list goal of staying at the San Antonio hotel to gather with loved ones in Malta and to have a last meal at her two favourite restaurants there. Angie is unable to go alone at this stage so the funds raised will pay for her friend to accompany her too. Any surplus would be donated to local feeders via Lynn at the Gozo SPCA.
Anything donated will be greatly, greatly appreciated, and will help Angie to reach her goals and we thank you so much for any help in advance. Angie – I think I speak for all of us when I say, we love you very much.
In her own words:
‘Hey all.
As most of you know now I have been diagnosed with stage 4 terminal cancer. For many, many years I have been doing everything I can to help the voiceless.
Now I am forced to ask for help for myself... I have a few things on my bucket list but as I’m now unable to work finances are tight. I am donating my body to science when the time comes. After 3 years it will be released and my wish is to be returned back to Nadur on Gozo which will also cost money that obviously till now never even crossed my mind, planning all this… So I am asking you please whatever you can spare it will be greatly appreciated.’
