At 33 years young, on January 22nd, 2016 my little sister Angelica Arocho (best known as Angie) was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. A life threatening blood cancer. Cancer never running in our family, and not being a full year since the passing of our beloved friend and brother Wayman Myree 33 years young, to the effects of a rare cancer (Leiomyosarcoma). Her diagnoses came as a hard blow. Angies unwavering faith in God's love for her, and her natural fighters spirit-mentally, has prepared for the battle ahead.
My sister is a mother of two God fearing boys. Angel-15, in the growing pains of his youth. Anisio-9, Who blieves his love can make it all better. She is also a confidant to her step children with Shabazz. Angie is the rock for her family. She is their provider, their backbone, their shelter. Angie is the type of woman that others are drawn to. Whether it be due to her hilarious, infectious, comedic charm; or her compassionate ability to nurture others. She is a go-getter, an intense believer in her work ethic. I say she should have been a lawyer, but she chose to care for others as her profession in the health field. This may be why her nurses have already grown to love her.
Angie is now on her 3rd day of a 5 day 2nd chemo stent. Angie is in need of a bone marrow transplant. It is a process to replace unhealthy marrow with healthy marrow. We, me Millie, our sister Jessica, and my brother William have all been tested (they say syblings are the strongest match) and God has chosen our brother to be her half match. Praise God!
There are many factors that determine a successful transplant. Many risks. The ultimate goal is to push the cancer into remission so she can stay here and raise her boys. After her transplant she will have to continue being monitered intensly going foward. As you can understand the medical/household financial burden can take it's toll. We are trying to help ease her concerns in this area as best we can and are asking for your prayers and help.
