Angel's Path to Trust and Love

Donation protected
Greetings. My name is John Good. Many of you know me as the individual who posted the progress of the rescue of Angel, the wayward husky, from the Cranberry Beach approach in Long Beach. My husky mix, Maddie, passed away of terminal cancer on March 10th of this year. Within two weeks of her passing, another sweet angel wiggled her way into my heart, and the hearts of many. This...is Angel.

Angel has been a homeless husky most, if not all, of her 3 years of life. She lived with her human companion, a transient, in and out of cars, tents, and eventually by herself, on the beach. She has likely never known the contact of another human other than her person, who sadly passed away during the month of March. She has never known the comfort of being indoors. She has never had a warm bed to sleep in. She has never had the promise of a full belly at the end of every day. She has likely never known the companionship of other dogs. There's only ever been Angel, and her person, and now it is only she.

Angel is a loveable and sweet, smaller than normal husky. She is somewhere between a Sheltie and a small Husky in size, so she is very petite. She is intensely shy and fearful of closeness with people. She has only ever known one person, and it is unknown as to the nature of what that relationship was like. She and I have begun to form a trust bond. I spend a couple of hours a day with her to help her begin to trust. I sit quietly in her space with her, and she reciprocates by placing her head in between my back and the wall, while snuggling her little body very close to me. She can feel the warmth I give off, and I can feel hers. This little girl wants so much to be loved and to love back, she just doesn't know how. She possibly has never received any level of unconditional love, but has likely given so much of herself to have nothing in return.

This changes now...

This GoFundMe has been setup to cover the costs of Angel's recovery from homeless and matted, to safe, secure, and loved. There are several services that are going to be required to get her to where she needs to be:

1. She is accumulating veterinarian costs, as she has a number of things that need to be done that include extended boarding, medication, vaccinations, and when she completes heat, she will need to be spayed. She will then have recovery from that surgery.
2. All along the way, there are behavior needs that need to be addressed, learning how to trust, and how to exist in a world that is suddenly full of other people and other dogs.
3. Along with behavioral needs, are the skills needed to exist in an environment other than a car or tent. There will be leash training, potty training, and many other training needs that will arise.

All of these services come at a cost. I am full of love, determination, and hope for this little girl, but I am not full of the funds needed to help make her life be the best that it can be. Many of you have reached out asking if there could be a way you could help with her recovery process, and I believe that this is the best way that we as a community can help meet her needs.

As the bills for her services roll in, I will post the amounts for everyone so you can see where these funds are going. I promise complete transparency with that. If there happens to be a surplus of funds left over, I plan on starting a fund to help with services for other wayward animals to be used in times of emergencies such as this. The hope is to cover medical expenses, training needs, emergency boarding, food, and anything else that might be needed for homeless animals in distress, especially in times when our local shelter is at capacity and has needs of their own.

Thank you for your donation and for the opportunity to provide all of the services needed, to this little sweet angel who has captured the hearts of many. My pledge to you is to deliver her to a life that she deserves, and into a home full of loving hearts and hands.
