Angel's Journey: Overcoming Leukemia
Donation protected
My name is Angel. I’m a 46 year old father of 3 kids and nurse for the last 15 years. I have been active in my children’s lives. They are all I live for. On April 4th of 2025 my world came crashing down. I had seen my primary for a yearly physical with some bloodwork. Within a half hour of leaving my results were posted. My white blood cell count was 248 when it should be between 4-13. I needed to follow up with hematologist/oncologist to find out if it was potential leukemia. April 11th I had my first oncology visit and had a blood test (BRC-ACL1) to test for chromosomal mutation. Test resulted with a P210 mutation. Initial step to my diagnosis. On April 22nd, I had a bone marrow biopsy procedure. Results were conclusive for Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. As I start a new position at a new hospital I find myself needing to visit oncology on a frequent schedule (every 2 weeks) and having to take Dasatinib daily. I need to make these visit and afford my medication while I also Cobra my insurance for the next 3 month till I can begin benefits at my new job. To add on to my stress I also found out from my Ex wife that she too was diagnosed with (breast) cancer and was
scheduled to have bilateral mastectomies on April 11th the very same day I saw oncology for the first time. As a father to these beautiful children I’d like to give myself a chance and them a chance to have their father be in their lives for years to come. I ask anyone willing to help us please donate a small amount to ease the burden of my care. Thank you
