Through the networking of rescue and a wonderful NJ girl named China who needed an urgent transport from NY to VT, we met this beautiful girl, Angel. And we hope that day changed her life forever. We were shown a video of Angel in Egypt from someone who had been following her and hoping to find a rescue to help her. This particular day that same woman was part of China's transport and shared Angel's video with me. I immediately said I would take her and try to help her. Her life up to this point had been lived in dirt and without vetting. She was neglected and suffering. Yet she had a will and desire to live and to love. It was going to be a difficult case but this sweet angel deserved a chance. Her efforts getting her here to the states were heavy. Upon arrival and picking her up from the airport I was in shock. Words can't describe. How she survived the flight I will never know. I believe Angel has a story to tell. And so our efforts have begun to help her tell it. Our doctors and specialists immediately discussed euthanasia. We asked them to give her 24 hours. She is paralyzed. She is incontinent. Her skin is so infected from scraping her legs it's become septic and literally breaks down at the touch. Humane euthanasia would have been more than understandable. But Angel wasn't having it. This poor girl has lived her entire life in pain and neglect and I wanted to give her at least one day of comfort. It's been 6 days since she's been here and Angel is holding strong. We are running a panel of tests but preliminary results show her organs are all functioning well, she's dehydrated, losing protein, and clearly fighting a massive infection. But she is eating on her own and giving kisses each chance she gets. Please understand we are not trying to be the hero here. Angel is the hero. We are simply trying to give her the chance no one else did. We will take it day by day. And we will make informed thoughtful decisions. Angel will remain in our specialty hospital until she is ready to come to foster. Please be a part of Angels journey and her miracle of hope. We need everyone's help to make this happen.
