Help Angelo Fusco Fight Brain Cancer

"It's The Bottom of the 9th and Angelo Fusco Needs A Grand Slam!!!"
This is our plea to help support Angelo Fusco, a loving husband, father, grandfather (pop-pop), uncle and friend in paying for bills related to his current medical care and treatment. Angelo has always been a vibrant, hardworking individual who always put his heart and soul into bettering himself as well as his family.

Angelo first started complaining daily of headaches, which we thought was from stress and working so hard. On September 19, 2014, he came home from working in NYC not recalling how he drove home. His wife, Marie, thought he was having a stroke so she rushed him to a nearby hospital. Doctors then found a mass on the left side of his brain. On September 22, he was transferred to Good Samaritan Hospital where doctors performed surgery to remove an egg-sized tumor and bring down the swelling in his brain. The mass was completely removed, but the biopsy had more to tell. Angelo was diagnosed with Stage 4 Glioblastoma- Brain Cancer, worst of the worst to have because it is so aggressive. With spirits still high, we were hopeful the tumor would not return. Angelo started radiation, chemotherapy and physical therapy one month after surgery. He was doing well, but by December 2014, we learned the tumor had returned…more aggressive than before.

This winter was definitely a tough one for Angelo. He was having seizure after seizure and at times, we didn’t know what the outcome would be. Angelo had a massive seizure on Christmas day, which he spent in St. Joseph’s hospital. At one point he could not walk or function on his own; thank goodness for the support of family and friends. With daily activities now impossible, and seizures still occurring, we decided to take Angelo to Sloan Kettering in NYC. His stay was short, but with options so few, his doctors decided to start a new, promising treatment called Avastin. This, along with his other chemotherapy, Tamador, we see some positive results. As Angelo would say, he is taking life day by day.

Even with this good news, Angelo still is having a very tough time. His complete right side coordination, memory and speech is all effected from the surgery, chemo and radiation.

Angelo has his own plumbing business and is very well-known and respected in the industry. When hurricane Sandy hit Long Island, he worked 24 hours on end, sometimes without collecting money, to help families get hot water and heat back to their homes. One instance during Sandy, he did work for an older woman, but would not take any payment from her. One week later, he received a call from Nassau County Executive, Ed Mangano, thanking him for his generosity. If any friend or family member ever needed him, Angelo was always there. Unfortunately, now he can no longer work (though he tries, but with major difficulty). Financially, whatever he saved he has used to survive, to support his family and to keep his home. Along with escalating hospital bills, medications, doctor visits and other unforeseen costs, it is becoming overwhelming for our family to keep up.

Angelo has helped so many, it is now time to help Angelo. This is our desire, to help ease the burden on his mind; to keep him in his home, to keep his monthly insurance and to free him from other financial debts from this catastrophe. There might come a time when we will have to sell our house to make ends meet, but for now we would like to keep him in his home, surrounded by family and friends.

Angelo is a very proud man, but this turn of events has left us with no alternative. If you can help us, it would be deeply appreciated. Prayers and positive thoughts are welcomed. xoxo
